Temecula Valley | Boys basketball

Thompson has picked up some of the production in place of the injured Brandon Rosser while still maintaining his defensive presence for the Golden Bears. On Tuesday, Thompson scored 14 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds in a 59-51 loss to Murrieta Valley; on Thursday, he tallied eight points and nine more rebounds in a 62-57 win over Vista Murrieta.

NATHAN WRIGHT

Murrieta Mesa | Boys basketball

The senior forward has been a huge part of the Rams' 2-0 start, as he scored 17 points in each of their first two Southwestern League games — a 59-51 victory over Great Oak last Tuesday and a 67-53 upset of Chaparral on Thursday. The Rams get a crack at top-ranked Murrieta Valley in a game there on Tuesday.
