PREP FOOTBALL: Tahquitz's 2011 outlook

03/04/2013, 2:30pm PST
By The Californian

TWO-MINUTE DRILL

Coach: Dennis Gregovich

Age: 38

College: San Diego State

Overall record: 11-19 (three seasons)

Record at school: 0-0 (first season)

League: Mountain Pass

Division: Eastern (Enrollment: 1,495)

Lowdown: While an almost complete turnover in starters would be worrisome for some programs, it almost couldn't happen at a better time for Tahquitz. Following a bit of a rocky year that saw former coach Mike Schroeder ousted and a lengthy process to name a successor, Dennis Gregovich moves down the hill from Hamilton. He'll have some more resources at his disposal, but he won't fly quite as far under the radar as he did with the Bobcats. Expect the Titans to spread out their offense a little more this year, even in the wake of returning just four players in starting positions. Sophomore Ben Moreno will learn the ropes at QB, while Preciado and Perez will give him veteran targets at receiver. On defense, where the Titans were strong last year, Gregovich will play a 3-4 and rely on senior noeguard Isaias Lara, one of the Titans' few returning starters. Junior Codt Brewer also returns at safety.
