Jessica Hilton, Great Oak
The senior got in front of the Anna and Katie Johnson at Saturday's Manhattan Cross Country Invite and placed as the Wolfpack's top finisher in 14th place with a time of 15 minutes, 16.53 seconds in the 2 1/2-mile race at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx (N.Y.). Great Oak finished third behind top-ranked Fayetteville-Manlius (N.Y.) and Tatnall (N.Y.).
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Karson Fronk, Great Oak
The senior led the Wolfpack to an impressive fifth-place finish in the boys' race in a time of 13:09.95 on the 2 1/2-mile course at Van Courtlandt Park at the Manhattan Cross Country Invite. Individually, Fronk placed 15th.
Porter Reddish, Vista Murrieta
The sophomore nearly won the Inland Empire Championships meet in Devore on Saturday, placing second at Glen Helen Regional Park in a time of 15:07.8. As a team, the Broncos were third.
BOYS WATER POLO
Jantz Johnson, Murrieta Valley
Johnson scored seven goals as the Nighthawks downed Laguna Beach for a 12-10 triumph that improved them to 11-0 on Friday afternoon.
Darius Guillory, Chaparral
Playing primarily as a ball carrier, the San Diego State-bound senior rushed for 134 yards and three touchdowns on 10 carries as the Pumas broke through with their first victory of the season in a 63-0 whitewash of Indio.
Michael Shepherd, Temescal Canyon
He's becoming a regular in this space, as Shepherd piled on four more touchdowns and 163 yards on 16 carries on Friday in the Titans' surprisingly easy 35-8 victory over Riverside Norte Vista.
Patrick Santhavisouk, Paloma Valley
The receiver had a huge night Friday, catching nine passes for 110 yards as the Wildcats easily defeated Bloomington, 38-14, for a nonleague victory.
Austen Taylor, Calvary Murrieta
The junior caught just one pass for 2 yards -- but it proved to be the game-clincher as it gave the Warriors their first victory of the year in a 20-6 triumph Friday over San Marcos St. Joseph Academy.
Dasom Kim, Chaparral
Kim shot a 3-over-par 39 at the Golf Club at Rancho California on Thursday as the Pumas edged Murrieta Valley, 222-241 for a Southwestern League victory that improved Chaparral to 8-5 overall, and 4-3 in league.
Katelyn Abayan, Vista Murrieta
Abayan swept her singles matches 6-2, 6-0, 6-0 as the Broncos downed Chaparral, 11-7, for a Southwestern League victory Tuesday.
Louise Dequilla, Temescal Canyon
Dequilla led the Titans to a narrow victory on games over Elsinore (77-65) after the two teams tied 9-9. Dequilla swept her matches at 6-0, 6-0, 6-0 and that 18-0 advantage more than carried the 12-point edge in games.
Amanda Abbott, Chaparral
Abbott had 12 kills and six blocks as the Pumas outlasted Vista Murrieta, 25-17, 28-26, 13-25, 11-25, 15-13 for a Southwestern League victory.
