Trace Deneke, a former head coach at El Camino, will call the offensive plays for Vista.

— Vista High head football coach Dan Williams is stepping down ... as the Panthers’ offensive coordinator.

Williams called plays on offense and defense the last few years, but decided it was time to relinguish the offensive play calling.

Former El Camino head coach Trace Deneke will now handle calling plays on offense.

“It was just too much for one person to do,’’ Williams said. “It’s not fair to the kids to keep doing both.’’

Williams will continue calling plays for the Panthers’ defense.

Vista was 2-8 last season after earning a berth in the San Diego Section Division I championship game in 2009, ‘10 and ‘11, winning the title in 2010.
