Imperial running back Royce Freeman averaged 12.35 yards per carry last season.

Imperial High running back Royce Freeman has accepted a football scholarship offer to Oregon.

Freeman, listed as a four-star recruit by Rivals.com, made the commitment after receiving offers from more than a dozen BCS schools.

The 6-foot, 227-pound Freeman was a first-team All-San Diego Section pick last season when he rushed for 2,482 yards and 34 touchdowns on 201 carries. He averaged 206.8 yards on the ground per game and 12.35 yards per carry.

Imperial coach Kerry Legarra said Freeman was being recruited as a running back by the Ducks.

Freeman led the Tigers to a 9-3 record in 2012. Imperial defeated La Jolla in the Division IV playoffs before being eliminated by Brawley.
