The San Marcos X-Treme, a North County All-Stars boys’ baseball team, dominated a team from the Philippines Thursday to advance in the Pony Mustang League World Series tournament in Burleson, Texas.
The X-Treme beat the Manila Mustangs 14-1, head coach Darin Campbell said Thursday night. “Our boys played very well,” he said.
Next, San Marcos will face a team from Keller, Texas, in a Friday night game that starts at 8:30 p.m. central time. The Keller team won its first game 25-0 in the double-elimination tournament, Campbell said.
Eight teams from the U.S., Mexico and the Philippines are vying for the title in the Pony Baseball World Series Mustang division, which is for boys ages 9 and 10.
The championship game will take place at 6 p.m. Sunday.
