Last year: 11-4
Coach: Jon Wallace, 1st year
Key players: Tony Miro (RB-LB), Cole Needham (DB-WB), Jerry Harper (LB-WB), Darrian Borboa (LB-OG), Blain Weeks (DL-OG), Slater Howe (DB-WB), Blake O’Rourke (DB-WR), Jake Bailey (CB-WR-PK), Drew Shields (DB-WR-P), Carter Roberts (QB-DB).
Scouting report: The Eagles lost a lot of offensive players from a team that fell in the Division IV state bowl game last season under departed coach Nick Ruscetta, but they return a host of top performers on defense. Miro is back to anchor the offense after rushing 150 times for 1,137 yards and 14 touchdowns, and catching eight passes for 117 yards and a TD as a junior. Roberts moved up from the JV, though the 6-foot-1, 160-pound junior managed to complete 5-of-13 varsity passes for 79 yards. Needham and Harper will lend a hand at wingback while also returning to defense, where they had 41 tackles and 52 tackles, respectively. Borboa led the team in tackles last year with 136. Howe (44 tackles) and Weeks (40 tackles) are also back along with Bailey, who had 36 stops and two interceptions. The biggest question marks are at quarterback (the team must replace Hunter Vaccaro’s decision-making) and offensive line (two returning starters).
