Scouting report: Perhaps Mount Miguel will be the surprise team in the Grossmont Valley League. The Matadors should make a second trip to the playoffs with relative ease. Mount Miguel returns nine starters on offense and eight on defense. The leader of the pack should be Murray, who had six interceptions — returning three for TDs — and has been offered scholarships to San Diego State, Colorado State, Utah State, UNLV and Northern Arizona. Murray is also being recruited by Boise State, Oregon State, Utah, Nevada, UCLA and Colorado, among others. Not to be overlooked is Richardson (34 catches, 643 yards, eight touchdowns). Tausaga is being recruited by San Diego State, Ohio and Eastern Washington. Another impact player for the Matadors will be Moreno, who was a first-team all-leaguer as a junior, passing for 1,006 yards and 11 touchdowns. Dominating the trenches for the Matadors will be Dillard (6-4, 300), who has attracted attention from Utah, UNLV and Nevada, among others. Bryers will lead a running game that will give the Matadors a balanced attack.
