SAN PASQUAL at MISSION HILLS

San Pasqual attacks on the ground behind QB Sebastian Tengan, FB Peter Ricardez and HB Grant Huffman. But WR JaJuan Thomas has added a deep passing threat. MLB Kyle Hendrickson is a load for the Eagles. Mission Hills likes to throw the ball behind QB Connor Wynn. Fred Warner and Ricky Liuchan lead the Grizzlies defense. Prediction: Mission Hills 21, San Pasqual 17

VALLEY CENTER at SAN MARCOS

Valley Center has lost four in a row while being outscored 144-48. San Marcos lost QB Will Freed with a broken jaw three weeks ago. James Harwell has stepped in and has added something with his legs. Prediction: San Marcos 34, Valley Center 21

MONTE VISTA at MOUNT MIGUEL

After losing its first three, Monte Vista has beaten Sweetwater, Kearny, Patrick Henry and El Cajon Valley, outscoring those teams 137-36. Mount Miguel has won three in a row. QB Brad Moreno is providing a spark. Prediction: Mount Miguel 34, Monte Vista 27

CARLSBAD at LA COSTA CANYON

Carlsbad had allowed just 24 points in five games before surrendering 28 last week to Oceanside. LCC has won two in a row, beating Rancho Bernardo and El Camino. Prediction: Carlsbad 24, La Costa Canyon 14

MT. CARMEL at ORANGE GLEN

Mt. Carmel can score points behind QB Kory Fox and RB Davion Fuller. Orange Glen has lost three in a row and has been outscored 128-16 over that period. Prediction: Mt. Carmel 35, Orange Glen 14

STEELE CANYON at GROSSMONT

After a 2-2 start, Steele Canyon has lost two in a row. Grossmont QB Anthony Lawrence has thrown for 1,511 yards and 19 TDs. Prediction: Grossmont 48, Steele Canyon 28

GRANITE HILLS at HELIX

Granite Hills has given up 118 in its last two games while losing to El Capitan (55-14) and Grossmont (63-39). Helix’s two losses are to Honolulu Punahou and Ramona, both by 10-6 scores. Prediction: Helix 34, Granite Hills 21

POINT LOMA at LA JOLLA

La Jolla’s offense is rolling, dialing up 1,439 total yards the last three weeks. Point Loma tries to run it down your throat, totaling 84 attempts on the ground the last two games. Can the Pointers play keep-away? Prediction: La Jolla 31, Point Loma 27

ST. AUGUSTINE at MIRA MESA

Following a shutout loss to Eastlake, St. Augustine bounced back with 64 points against San Diego. Mira Mesa has won three of its last four. Prediction: St. Augustine 28, Mira Mesa 20

CHULA VISTA at EASTLAKE

Eastlake remains a perfect 5-0 against San Diego Section teams. Chula Vista has clamped down defensively, giving up only a pair of touchdowns in two straight wins. The Titans will provide the Spartans with their toughest test yet. Prediction: Eastlake 35, Chula Vista 14

CLAIREMONT at CORONADO

Clairemont will attempt to get back on track after scoring only seven points over the past two weeks. Coronado will try to stop a four-game slide. Prediction: Clairemont 21, Coronado 20

HOOVER at SERRA

During its five-game win streak, Hoover has scored 30 points or more four times. Serra’s potent ground game has opened up the passing attack with the Conquistadors throwing for six touchdowns the last two weeks on just 28 attempts. Prediction: Hoover 35, Serra 24

SAN YSIDRO at CASTLE PARK

San Ysidro tallied 103 carries, 767 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground the last two weeks. Castle Park stopped a two-game slide with a 63-32 rout of SD Southwest. Prediction: San Ysidro 45, Castle Park 42

LA JOLLA COUNTRY DAY vs. HORIZON

Horizon defeated La Jolla Country Day twice last season, once in the regular season (44-34) and once in the playoffs (40-24). The Torreys need to find a way to keep the Panthers under 40 points. Prediction: La Jolla Country Day 24, Horizon 13
