Abdi Musa carries the ball for Crawford, whose game against Calipatria on Friday was cancelled.
Crawford’s football game Friday against Calipatria has been cancelled, according to Crawford Principal Ana Maria Alvarez.
The 7 p.m. game was scheduled to be the school's homecoming, which now will take place next week.
The Manzanita League contest would have marked the first Colts home Friday night football game under lights in the school’s 55-year history.
The game goes down as a forfeit by Calipatria, which did not have enough varsity players to suit up, according to Alvarez.
The homecoming football game festivities instead will be postponed to 7 p.m. Oct. 25, when the undefeated Colts (6-0) take on Vincent Memorial.
Crawford’s homecoming dance will remain at 7 p.m. Saturday in the campus gym.
"We're so grateful to BJ's Rentals for understanding our situation," Alvarez said of the light company, which plans to provide its lights to Crawford an additional week at no charge.
"This historic game will go on a week late."
