By John Maffei, Craig Malveaux

John Maffei and Craig Malveaux make their predictions.

Andrew Wright reels off a gainer for Sweetwater, which can wrap up the Metro Pacific League title with a win over Montgomery.

JOHN MAFFEI'S PICKS

GROSSMONT at WEST HILLS

High-scoring Grossmont is looking for a top-four seed in Division I and needs to win this Grossmont Hills League contest to do that. Foothillers QB Anthony Lawrence needs 48 yards to become the San Diego Section’s all-time passing leader. West Hills QB Stephen Schindler has thrown for 1,139 yards and 14 TDs with only one interception. Prediction: Grossmont 44, West Hills 31

EL CAMINO at OCEANSIDE

El Camino has lost two in a row to Carlsbad and Vista by identical 30-7 scores. The Wildcats need a win to secure a playoff spot. The top-three seeds in the Open Division are up for grabs, so Oceanside can’t afford a loss. Prediction: Oceanside 35, El Camino 14

TORREY PINES at LA COSTA CANYON

Both Torrey Pines and LCC are Open Division teams for the playoffs. A Falcons win would secure the fifth seed. With a Mavs loss to Poway earlier in the season, LCC could drop behind the Titans with a defeat. Prediction: Torrey Pines 17, La Costa Canyon 14

SAN MARCOS at MISSION HILLS

San Marcos is looking for no worse than a No. 5 seed in Division III. A win in this intracity rivalry could jump the Knights into the top four seeds and a first-round bye. Mission Hills is ranked No. 2 in the region, and is looking for a No. 1 seed in the Open Division. Prediction: Mission Hills 35, San Marcos 21

DEL NORTE at MT. CARMEL

Del Norte could grab a share of the Valley League title with a win. A win would give the Sundevils the league title outright. Prediction: Mt. Carmel 24, Del Norte 13

HELIX at STEELE CANYON

Helix has outscored opponents 321-121 this season. The Cougars snapped a four-game losing streak last week with a win over Valhalla. Prediction: Helix 35, Steele Canyon 14

VISTA at CARLSBAD

Vista could make an argument for a spot in the Division I playoffs with a win. Carlsbad is fighting for a top-four seed in Division I postseason play. Prediction: Carlsbad 35, Vista 14

Season record: 55-15

CRAIG MALVEAUX'S PICKS

FRANCIS PARKER vs. SANTA FE CHRISTIAN

Eight of Parker’s nine victories have come via routs. The Eagles are finally healthy and it shows as they have won three straight. The Coastal League title is on the line. Prediction: Parker 35, Santa Fe Christian 31

LA JOLLA vs. KEARNY

A brutal league schedule has made things tough for the Vikings and Komets, who come into the game sharing the cellar in the Western league. Prediction: La Jolla 31, Kearny 21

MADISON at POINT LOMA

In Western League play, Madison’s defense has allowed just nine points per contest. The Pointers have rushed for 200 or more yards in six of their nine games. A Point Loma win creates a three-way tie with Mission Bay for the championship. Prediction: Madison 31, Point Loma 28

BONITA VISTA at OLYMPIAN

For the first time in three seasons, Olympian won’t capture the Metro Mesa League crown. But can the Eagles finish strong? With an upset, the Barons can secure a second-place finish in league. Prediction: Olympian 24, Bonita Vista 14

SWEETWATER at MONTGOMERY

Following a 1-4 start, the Red Devils have managed four consecutive victories and can wrap up the Metro Pacific League title with a win. Montgomery relies on its run game, which averages 200 plus yards per contest. Prediction: Sweetwater 21, Montgomery 14

HILLTOP at MAR VISTA

The Metro South Bay title goes to the winner. Hilltop and Mar Vista enter the regular-season finale undefeated in league play after routing San Diego Southwest and San Ysidro, respectively. Prediction: Hilltop 35, Mar Vista 31

BRAWLEY at CENTRAL

Heated rivals meet in the annual Bell Game in El Centro. Second place in the Imperial Valley League is at stake. The Wildcats’ 42-3 romp last season has created added motivation for the Spartans. Prediction: Brawley 28, Central 10

Season record: 54-16
