SDSU alum led Eagles to San Diego Section Open Division title

James Davis of Granite Hills was chosen the state high school Baseball Coach of the Year by Cal-Hi Sports.

The Eagles clinched the San Diego Section Open Division title to finish the season 26-7.

Davis, a San Diego State alum, has compiled a 286-146-2 record since taking over the Granite Hills program in 2001. The Eagles also won a section championship in 2007.

Cal-Hi Sports, which also compiles state team rankings, has chronicled prep athletics in California for decades.
