St. Augustine is county's new No. 1 boys hoops team

St. Augustine is the New No. 1 team

Two weeks into the boys basketball season, and there is already a new No. 1 team in the county with La Costa Canyon and St. Augustine trading places.

Saints is 6-0, beating Mission Hills and Torrey Pines to win the West Hills Tournament last week.

La Costa Canyon is No. 2 with the Mavericks' lone loss by two points to Hoover. LCC later beat Hoover by 24.

Hoover (5-2) and Torrey Pines (5-1) are tied for third. Torrey Pines' loss was 60-55 to St. Augustine.

Cathedral Catholic and Vista, who were tied for 10th in the season's first poll, both dropped out of the Top 10.

Poway (3-2) is the new No. 10 team.

Poway's losses are to La Costa Canyon (56-46) and Hoover (57-54). The Titans have beaten Foothills Christian (72-70), El Camino (73-63) and Vista (52-28).
