Moraga Campolindo (15-0) vs. El Capitan (14-0)
When: Saturday, noon
Moraga Campolindo outlook: The Bay Area’s Cougars have averaged 46.7 points a game with a balanced offense that takes advantage of the passing of senior QB Jack Stephens (160 of 259, 3,273 yards, 33 TDs/9 INTs) and the running of senior RB Nick Fadelli (1,814, 32 TDs). Senior WRs Max Flower (51 catches, 1,000 yards, 11 TDs) and Tyler Petite (30 catches, 869 yards, 9 TDs) are Stephens’ top targets. The Campolindo defense is allowing 19.4 points a game. LB Kevin Hull has a team-high eight sacks.
El Capitan outlook: The Vaqueros are confident in the county’s stingiest defense (10.4 points a game), which has allowed only 20 points over four postseason games. A group of two-way standouts — RB/LB D.J. Smith, SB/CB Isaiah Capoocia, WR/OLB Joseph LaChappa, WR/SS Zach Cagle and TE/DL Clay Cromwell — provide a solid foundation for success. Smith (1,280 yards, 19 TDs) powers the running game. Capoocia (59 catches, 941 yards, 15 TDs/322 yards, 6 TDs rushing, 3 TDs on returns) does a little bit of everything. QB Brad Cagle (2,769 yards, 26 TDs passing) directs the offense, which is averaging 38 points a game. El Capitan is bidding for the first perfect season and state championship in the school’s 55-year history.
