Coach: Tristan McCoy. Overall record — 17-28 (5th year). Record at school — 17-28 (5th year).

Division: II.

League: Palomar.

Section titles: 2 (1993, 1995).

Player to watch: Senior WR Devaughn Vele emerged late last season and opened more eyes during camps over the summer. “He has so many natural gifts,” McCoy said. “He’s so fluid.”

At a glance: What McCoy called the “dark years” — back-to-back one-win seasons — were put behind the Broncos by advancing to last season’s Division II final. This year is greeted with optimism. “Expectations are high,” McCoy said. Many of the juniors only know success after playing on undefeated freshman and junior varsity teams. Junior QB Mark Salazar is new, but he can ease into the role with Vele on the outside and a strong running game led by junior RB Milan Grice. Senior Devin Lecakes-Jones is a two-way lineman. Senior MLB Devin Dunn is the leader on defense.
