Player to watch: Giant DE Steven Mason checks in at 6-feet-7, 245 pounds. He’s being aggressively recruited by several top-flight college programs. Gladnick feels he has the potential to be a dominant player in high school and beyond.

At a glance: In his second year as a starter, Trent Katz protects the quarterback’s blind side from his left tackle position. A top student, Katz has made tremendous progress from last season. RG Scott Archibald and C Daniel Lavery give the Falcons bulk and experience on the line and are among 20 players at 200 pounds or better. Caden Kelley is in his first year as a starter at QB but is drawing interest from Ivy League schools. Matt Feeler and Tristen Alesi give the team two versatile and talented players.
