Milo Barton and his Cathedral Catholic teammates will try to win a second straight Open Division title.

(4) Cathedral Catholic (13-6-2) vs. (2) San Pasqual (15-4-6)

When: Friday, 5 p.m.

Where: Mesa College

At a glance: Cathedral Catholic seeks a repeat crown behind Milo Barton, whose overtime goal secured last year's final victory. Set-piece specialist Edgar Mejia spearheads San Pasqual, which goes for its second title in four years.


(7) Calexico (13-3-8) vs. (5) La Costa Canyon (14-6-4)

When: Saturday, 4:30 p.m.

Where: Mesa College

At a glance: Calexico sports a 13-game unbeaten streak as the seventh-seeded Bulldogs seek their first section title. La Costa Canyon upset No. 1-seeded Canyon Crest to reach the finals.


(4) Point Loma (10-5-6) vs. (2) San Marcos (17-5-2)

When: Saturday, 7 p.m.

Where: Olympian High

At a glance: The Pointers, who won the most recent of their two championships in Division 2A in 1983, won a PK shootout in the semis, knocking off top-seeded Oceanside. Seeking its first section title, San Marcos reached the final on the strength of four saves from senior keeper Adrian Salazar in a PK shootout win over Granite Hills in the semis.


(3) San Diego (16-7-1) vs. (1) Mission Hills (18-3-3)

When: Saturday, 1:30 p.m.

Where: Mesa College

At a glance: Paced by Marcus Rice, San Diego goes for its first crown since 1995. Adrian Quintero and Luis Valdovinos anchor the defense for Mission Hills, which rebounded after missing last year's playoffs to reach its first final.


(4) Lincoln (10-7-6) vs. (3) La Jolla (6-8-5)

When: Saturday, 1:30 p.m.

Where: Olympian High

At a glance: Lincoln, the Central League champion, beat Helix in last season’s Division V finals to win its first title in the Hornets’ first finals appearance. La Jolla has had remarkable success in sections finals, winning nine of 10, but the Vikings’ last title came in 1998 in Division II.


(6) Chula Vista Learning Community Center (7-5) vs. (4) Christian (15-7-2)

When: Friday, 5 p.m.

Where: Olympian High

At a glance: The Cobras beat O’Farrell 4-1 and North County High Tech 4-0 in the playoffs to reach the title game for the first time. The Patriots last played in a section final in 1999, when they won their lone championship in Division IV.
