Poway, the defending Open Division champion, relies on one of the county’s best attacks led by Malia Martinez, who signed with Arizona, and Gabby Callaway, who signed with Alabama.

Preview: Calexico scored four runs in the top of the seventh to edge Granite Hills in the semifinals 6-5. Kasey Cazares (12-4, 0.33 ERA, 185 strikeouts, 2 no-hitters) shut out Escondido 1-0 in the second round. The Cougars battled back, shutting out Santana (7-0) and Steele Canyon (6-0) before pulling out a 14-inning 1-0 win over Granite Hills to reach the finals. Escondido’s offense is led by Grace Finn (.395), Kayla Krantz (.392) and Victoria Cervantes (.386).
DIVISION III
(5) University City (19-10) vs. (1) Grossmont (22-10)
Time: 2 p.m.
Preview: University City’s offense is led by Sabrina Schnaubelt (.400, 3 HR, 27 RBIs) as well as Erika Silva (.376, 14 RBIs), Leilani Duarte (.348), Alexi Wyckoff (.382, 2 HR, 15 RBIs) and Erin Gillum (.413, 12 RBIs). The Foothillers will be making their first title game appearance since 2011 with a solid offense led by Chloe Camarero and Megan Malwitz, who were both 4-for-4 in an 8-0 win to secure the finals berth. Malwitz drove in three runs.
DIVISION IV
(1) Christian (13-14) vs. La Jolla (17-13)
Time: 11:30 a.m.
Preview: Behind the hitting of sophomore Silent Rain Espinoza (.562, 37 runs, 45 hits, 15 doubles, 15-for-15 stolen bases) and senior Anna Sherburne (.486, 28 RBI, .944 slugging percentage) the Patriots beat Escondido Charter (4-3), Calipatria (7-1) and these Vikings (6-4) two days ago in the semifinals. Freshman Kyra Ferenczy does it all for La Jolla. On the mound she is 15-8 with a 2.53 ERA and 23 complete games in 24 starts. She also is batting .464 with a team-high 33 runs and 45 hits. Junior Linda Brown has a team-high .500 batting average and 34 RBIs.
