San Diego running back Raiden Hunter looks to make it past Clairemont cornerback Devon Rensfield.

This week’s predictions for 10 selected games:

CATHEDRAL CATHOLIC vs. ST. AUGUSTINE

Holy Bowl 56 at San Diego Mesa College is also a key Western League game with postseason implications. No. 2 Cathedral Catholic (5-1, 1-0) has won five in a row since an opening loss to La Costa Canyon. The Dons have outscored those five opponents — which include Gardena Serra, Helix and Madsion — 213-62. RB Shawn Poma, who has 805 yards rushing and 135 receiving, and QB DJ Ralph are the keys to the offense. The only loss for No. 7 St. Augustine (5-1, 1-0) is to Helix. QB Angelo Peraza has thrown for 1,046 yards and RB Byron Cardwell has 636 rushing yards. LB JT Penick has 49 tackles and 51/2 sacks. The Saints defense has allowed just 58 points. The series started in 1966 and Cathedral Catholic leads 33-22. Over the last five years, the Saints hold a 3-2 advantage. St. Augustine was a 45-6 winner last season with Cathedral winning 35-0 in 2016. Cathedral is ranked No. 19 in California, St. Augustine is No. 56. The game has been tabbed as a part of the Great American Rivalry Series by the United States Marines with players and alumni from both schools being recognized.

Prediction: Cathedral 27, St. Augustine 21

SAN DIEGO at SCRIPPS RANCH

San Diego (3-2, 1-0) got a jump on the City League with a win over Mission Bay last week. The Cavers are led by RBs Mo Jackson and Raiden Hunter. Scripps Ranch (4-2, 0-0) is led by QB Dillon Gebase and RB Nicholas Gardinera.

Prediction: San Diego 31, Scripps Ranch 24

BISHOP’S at ORANGE GLEN

This is a key Coastal League game, featuring Bishop’s QB Dominic Haley, who was a center a month ago. The Knights (3-3, 1-0) have some big offensive weapons in RB Amaan Banks, WR Clarence Freeman and do-everything Clay Petry. Orange Glen (5-1, 1-0) is led by QB Ethan Villalobos and RB Cael Patterson, who has 145 carries for 1,157 yards and 15 TDs.

Prediction: Bishop’s 34, Orange Glen 27

MONTE VISTA at MOUNT MIGUEL

Led by QB Jacob Laverdiere, Mount Miguel (2-4, 1-0) got off to a fast start in the Grossmont Valley League with a win over Santana. Bolstered by RB Jahmon McClendon, Monte Vista (5-1, 0-0) is off to its best start since winning its first 10 in 2004.

Prediction: Monte Vista 37, Mount Miguel 17

SWEETWATER at MONTGOMERY

Sweetwater (2-4) is led by QB Luciano Estopier. Montgomery (2-4) is led by QB Keoa Gumataotao.

Prediction: Sweetwater 28, Montgomery 24

POINT LOMA at MADISON

Point Loma (4-2, 0-0) has won three in a row heading into this Western League game, outscoring those opponents 105-56. No. 8 Madison (4-2, 0-1) was beaten by No. 2 Cathedral Catholic last week. The Warhawks are led by QBs Mario Alves and Daniel Stokes and RB Kenan Christon.

Prediction: Madison 28, Point Loma 24

WESTVIEW at RANCHO BERNARDO

Westview (1-5, 0-2) has played two overtimes the last three weeks, including an OT loss to Del Norte in last week’s Palomar League opener. Rancho Bernardo QB Noah Morris has a gaggle of WRs to throw to, including Jonny Tanner, Angelo Ducksworth and Dallin Dunn. LB Luke Manos has 10 of the 22 sacks logged by the Broncos (4-2, 1-0).

Prediction: Rancho Bernardo 31, Westview 17

EASTLAKE at MATER DEI CATHOLIC

Eastlake (5-1, 0-0) can pound it behind RB Parker Merrifield and wing it with QB Richard Colmenero, who has big-play WRs in Darius De Los Reyes and Kevin Bateman. Mater Dei Catholic (3-4, 1-0) is looking to make it two wins in a row in the Metro Mesa League after beating Bonita Vista last week.

Prediction: Eastlake 35, Mater Del Catholic 24

GRANITE HILLS at GROSSMONT

Granite Hills (6-0, 1-0) is one of the county’s surprise teams, finally cracking the Top 10 after a Grossmont Hills League win over Steele Canyon last week. The Eagles are led by QB Cristopher Ostreng, who has 1,329 total yards. DB Ethen Bishop has 58 tackles and 2 interceptions. Grossmont (2-4, 1-0) is led by QB Jaime Odom, who has thrown for 1,064 yards. He has a slew of WRs, including big-play man Brody Schicker.

Prediction: Granite Hills 31, Grossmont 17

OCEANSIDE at CARLSBAD

Every week in the Avocado League is a must-win game. This is no different. Oceanside (3-3, 1-2), which beat Mission Hills last week, is led by QB Kyrin Beachem, RB Kavika Tua and WRs Dylan York and Trejan Apodaca. Carlsbad (3-3, 1-2) did the unusual, jumping into the Top 10 at No. 10 after a loss. That loss, however, was 35-28 in overtime to No. 1 Torrey Pines. The Lancers are led by QB Keoni Quintana, who has thrown for 1,261 yards and 16 TDs. He has big-play WRs in Cole Wright and Asa Turner. RB Luke Armstrong has 470 yards and 10 TDs.

Prediction: Carlsbad 31, Oceanside 28

Last week: 7-3. Season: 53-17.
