Everybody got a piece of the action for Lincoln.

Seven different players scored touchdowns as the fifth-seeded Hornets exploded for a 54-14 victory over visiting Westview in the San Diego Section Division II first-round matchup Friday night at Vic Player Stadium.

“We’ve got some guys back now and we’re looking pretty healthy,” said Lincoln coach David Dunn. “We mixed it up out there and everybody stepped it up.”

The Hornets (7-4) raced to a 21-0 lead after the opening quarter on a 29-yard scoring run by Leviticus Tharpe, an 8-yarder by Kenneth Stevenson and an 85-yard interception return by Marquese Allen-Patmon.

They would up the lead to 28-0 when quarterback Chris Davila hit Peanut Monroe for a 20-yard score with 9:46 left in the half.

The 12th- seeded Wolverines (1-10) refused to back down.

Quarterback Andrew Wiesley overcame a 0-for-7 start to throw a pair of second-quarter TDs to cut the lead in half. First he found Elijah Johnson for a 10-yard score with 4:27 left and then, following a successful onside kick, hit Benjamin O’Brien on a 9-yard score with 2:52 left in the half.

But in the second half Lincoln scored 26 unanswered points to run away with the victory.

The Hornets advance to face Western League rival Point Loma in the quarterfinals. Three weeks ago the two met in one of the few games to finish on the lightning-filled night. The fourth-seeded Pointers scored a trio of TDs in the final six minutes to grab the come-from-behind 33-20 win to earn the higher seed and home game.
